Dyslexia is classed as a disability, and it is covered by the 1995
Disability Act.

Laird said, ‘It has been estimated that there are 350,000 dyslexics
in our school population; and one can add a number of dyspraxics to
that. Using conventional methods to deal with the condition, the additional
cost of providing those children with the educational support they
should have would be several hundreds of millions of pounds a year.’ |
